The National Iranian American Council and its president Trita Parsi exaggerate its size and the extent it represents Iranian-Americans.

Does NIAC Represent Iranian Americans??free world o,For the past 10 years NIAC has persistently claimed that it is the largest Iranian-American organization in the United States wow power leveling, polo ralph lauren outlet. Polo shirts for men. barefoot running shoes. and hence solely equipped to represent the view of the Iranians in the American circles. This claim is deceitful, and fraudulent. Purporting to represent the Iranian-American community, Trita Parsi has gained access to the corridors of power in Washington. This is the end of my commentary. The rest of this article is only bare cts backed by NIAC&39;s internal documents obtained during a demation lawsuit filed by NIAC against me in 2009. Iranian Americans judge for themselves.

NIAC website proudlyposts Roger Cohen&39;s claim that the group represents one million Iranian Americans. No attempt to correct the quote. God knows how Cohen got that number!

Incommunications with US officials, Trita Parsi claimed to represent Iranian-Americans. He wrote: "On behalf of Iranian-Americans I thank you for …."

In several CVs that Parsi prepared forAmnesty International 5 finger shoes,SabanCenter at Brookings Institute orEurasia Fund, etc. he openly lied about NIAC membership and claimed 10000 members for NIAC.

In ameeting with Sen. Chafey&39;s office, Parsi declared that a survey was sent to 10000 NIAC members and 86% opposed sanctions against Iran. The truth was that the survey was only responded to by only 220 people (193 NIAC members).

Theminutes of a meeting of the NIAC Board in 2007 contains: "Trita reviewed the membership trends: 1,034 (2005) increased to 1,307 in 2006 and 1,680 as of today – citing these figures as absolutely unacceptable". Note that only about half of them paid membership and considered active members.

The sameminutes shows that Alex Patico, NIAC co-founder and a board members felt that: "…. it would not be deceitful to mention NIAC as being comprised of 25,000+ members when dealing with the media and other inquiries."

In July 2009, less than 500 (members and non members) participated in a NIAC members&39;survey. 275 of themresponded to the questions. For almost 2 months NIAC websites and newsletters urged the Iranian-Americans to respond to this surveyfree world of warcraft cd keys.

In Dec. 2010 Trita Parsiclaimed that NIAC has 4000 paid members and 43000 active supporters. However, during his testimony in May 2011 and under oath he confessed that 43000 is really NIAC&39;s mailing list. The real membership was only around 1000 members.

MMObility: What makes a good mobile game to me/mmo list

Over the time I have been exploring mobile gaming, especially since I have been writing this column, Ive discovered exactly what I like and dislike about the genre. Mobile MMOs are the tiniest niche within the greater world of MMOs. Some would say that MMOs are even a tiny corner of gaming in general. While I dont quite agree, I would say that explaining my column to random game shop employees or curious friends is quite the challenge.

MMObility: What makes a good mobile game to me/mmo list,You write about games… on your phone?

Yes, massively multiplayer games.

Huh?

Luckily there are many new ones that offer a much more robust gaming experience. I can proudly show people examples of games likeOrder and Chaos Online,Star Legends orIllyriad. Of course, I sift through many poor examples before I get to the good ones. So lets take this opportunity to discuss what I think makes for a good game. Click past the cut and feel free to add your ideas in the comments section!

Originality: This is the first and foremost important thing to me. I want a game that isnt something I have seen before. While that is much, much easier said than done, it is also a pretty premise: Developers take a chance and make a unique game. I can download any number of Mafia Wars-style grinders or RTS-like copies, but what ticks my tock has to be a game that is set in a unique setting or at the very least takes standard settings and does something unique with them. Mobile gaming is very similar to the music industry right now. Thanks to cheap distribution, anyone can get his game out there and it can possibly make a splash. This means that developers can take more chances since the market is massive. That is,Polo shirts for men. if they wish to do so.

Gameplay: Setting is important but what you do in that setting is just as important. Sure, Ill accept your class-based linear quest driven world, but at least give me one or two optional systems that tie them together.Outer Empires is pretty standard stuff, but it allows players to hook up through either the browser or an app.Fleck might be a FarmVille-style clone, but it layers it on top of real-world maps and locations. If I had my wish, I would want a game that skips leveling or standard upward character growth and replaces it with exploration or allowing players to build whatever type of characters they want.

Style: If I had a dime for every ugly mobile game I have downloaded, I would have around six dollars and 20 cents. Yes, I know that development for a small screen is tough, but with some creativity it can be executed wonderfully. I think too many mobile games try to cram in some sort of realistic detail or lighting effects that just do not work. Designing for a tiny screen is a lot like painting a picture with limited materials. Understand your limitations and work with them. Instead of marching characters across hideous 8-bit landscapes, why not move them by using lovely hand-drawn hex maps? I hate to sound harsh, but a lot of the time indie developers are the smart types, the individuals who have a good time plugging away at lines of code. A lot of the time, the mechanically minded are not the most artistically minded. The developers ofIllyriad, for example, literally hired artists to improve their character portraits and other in-game assets. What resulted was a game that had its own style, even while residing in a miliar gaming genre polo ralph lauren outlet, the MMORTS.

Flexibility: Again I am asking to fill a tall order. If it is possible for your mobile game to work across many devices, make it so. HTML5 is supposed to be bringing us games that will be playable no matter what device you have, but so r there are very few MMOs that use the technology. Some games are exclusive to one device, or at least it takes a long time before they work for all. I feel a lot like a console player when I discover a new MMO for my phone or tablet. I have to read how it might be available soon on other devices or just get used to lugging around my laptop, my HTC Inspire Android phone, and my disconnected iPhone and iPad. I long for the time when there will be no boundaries between devices. Perhaps the lines in the sand can be erased with new technologies that allow hardware manucturers to retain their unique market presence and connect with each other while still a profit. Well have to see.

Great music: While I am writing this entire article from my special designer armchair, I might as well hope for some great music as well. Have you ever been driving along, listening to some good rock and roll and then decide to flip through the stations? Suddenly you find yourself staring out the front window as a sad song fills the air. Music has that effect on us. I have played so many cool little games that could have benefited from great music or sound. How many mobile games use the same goofy song over and over, barefoot running shoes. no matter where you are in the world? Developers do not need to be afraid to use subtle and possibly gloomy or sad music in their games. I truly believe that it will help slow players down and will encourage exploring and non-linear play.

After adding up these rules, Im not surprised I have such a short list of mobile vorites. It holds under a dozen titles. Many folks might think that by writing this column I am exclaiming that the world of mobile gaming (and in this casmmo liste I am talking about tablet or phone gaming) is as rich and vibrant as browser-based or normal MMOs. It is not, and I am not pretending that it is. But it is growing. The developers are learning from mistakes and are quickly adapting. I write this column because I truly believe that, simply due to advancing technology, we will be experiencing much more than a dozen wonderful mobile MMOs very soon.

Soon enough Ill find more MMOs that follow this list perfectly.

Would be nice to see another game write-up from you. How about one on Star Legends? I get that youve got strong opinions on games, but sadly, there is very little coverage of actual games in these articles of late.Reply

@DoctorSmart

Enjoy.

BeauReply

@Beau Hindman Fair enough. Forgot you covered the Android version. Was looking for thoughts about it from an iPod/iPad perspective, but you did provide what I asked for.Reply

I played Star Legends at work on my iPhone 4 and had a blast. Unfortunately I had 5% battery when I went home. I think the idea of mobile mmos are great but the tech isnt quite there yet as r as battery life is concerned. Reply

I TOTALLY agree with the Flexibility point. Nothing is more aggrivating than an MMO or mobile game in general that wont work on your phone tablet etc,5 finger shoes. but does work on your buddies. This is an overlooked and excellent point. Some devices are on the edge of worthless because none of the good apps work on them.

Even the beloved iOS still suffers from this, some games that work on the iPad really are just stretched out and dont do the platform justice.

Great read Beau!

Misinformation about Suboxone_suboxone get

More than ever, patients have easy access to information once read only by scientists and medical professionals.  And at the same time, doctors have reduced the time spent with patients during appointments.  The result has been an increase in internet-educated patients, who come to appointments armed with data from package inserts, information from internet health forums, and stacks of questions from net-savvy relatives.

Misinformation about Suboxone_suboxone get,There is a good side to this process, of course.  Patients are wise to take greater interest in their personal health, and to be knowledgeable of medications that they are taking.  And whether good or bad, the situation is necessary, given the abdication by many physicians of their roles as educators.

But there are downsides to the situation as well. Package inserts provide studies and odds ratios for the risks from medications, but interpreting the studies and odds ratios requires education and experience. Some data is reported in a way that a person without considerable education in statistics would have a hard time deciphering what is or isnt relevant.  Some patients struggle under the burden of calculating and weighing risks,Polo Shirts. and prefer to have a careful, caring doctor provide his/her opinion whether a medications is safe or not.  Speaking from my role as physician, I am frustrated when patients choose to follow advice from an online forum over a recommendation based on medical knowledge or a careful literature search..

Doctors sometimes add to the problem.  I am frustrated when doctors make claims that are not supported by best medical practice or by medical science.  Distinctions between sources of information are blurred, so that some cts are based on nothing but rumor.  The process is like the old telephone line game; a doctor reads a question about a medication or illness, and responds with his/her opinion.  Another doctor then hears or reads that answer, adopts it as ct, and shares it with other doctorswho then reinforce the ctual nature of the information.

People tend to take information from physician educators/writers verbatim, as if the act of putting information online, in writing, guarantees that it to be true.  People are confused when they read conflicting cts or recommendations from people with comparable credentials.

I try, when writing here, to differentiate between cts, best medical practice, and personal opinion.  If someone asks how long should I stay on Suboxone?, Ill reply that several studies show high relapse rates in people who stay on Suboxone for less than 6 months (ct), that more and more physicians are keeping patients on the medication long-term (medical practice), and that in my opinion, many people are best off staying on the medication for an extended period of time.  You get the idea.

I think it is because of my PhD training that I tend to take a closer look at things that everyone knows and ask, says who?  History has given us many examples of things that everyone knew that turned out to be wrongfrom the connection between autoimmune disease and breast implants that wasnt, to global cooling, the impending disaster when I was a kid (read theNewsweek story on this page)and we all know how THAT turned out!

The treatment of opioid dependence with buprenorphine/Suboxone appears to be particularly vulnerable to misinformation.  Some examples:

The naloxone in Suboxone prevents the person from getting high: Naloxone is not active orally or sublingually, and is added to Suboxone to prevent intravenous injection of the medication.  Confusion comes in part from mistaking naloxone, an IV medication, with naltrexone, an orally-active medication that is NOT part of Suboxone.

People will abuse Subutex because it doesnt have the opioid blocker in it: Subutex or the generic equivalentbuprenorphineworks just like Suboxone when taken correctly.  Doctors and pharmacists are mistaken when they believe that buprenorphine is more addictive if naloxone is not included.  In reality, the subjective effects of Suboxone and Subutex are identical.  There IS a relatively low incidence of intravenous abuse of buprenorphine;  Suboxone in theory causes withdrawal if injected because of the presence of naloxone.  Realize, though, that the effects of buprenorphine or Suboxone are similar, whether injected or taken correctly.  Injected buprenorphine has the same ceiling effect as does sublingual buprenorphine, and so people on buprenorphine maintenance would NOT experience an opioid high after injecting their medicationany more than they do when taking it sublingually.

The tablet should not be crushed or chewed: The package insert recommends that Suboxone tablets should be taken sublingually, without crushing the tablet.  I am guessing that the recommendation comes out of an attempt to standardize the bio-availability of buprenorphine.  Studies show that as little as 15% of a dose of buprenorphine is absorbed, and in my opinion, the high cost of the medication warrants efforts to reduce the amount that gets wasted.  The bio-availability is affected by the concentration of buprenorphine in saliva, the suce area available for absorption, and the time that the medication is in contact with absorptive suces.  Passage of buprenorphine through mucous membranes is the rate-limiting step for absorption&8211;NOT dissolution of the tablet.  In other words, crushing or chewing the tablet does NOT cause a high, and is NOT a sign of drug-seeking behavior.  Neither does crushing or chewing hasten the onset time of a dose of Suboxone.

Discussions about chewing or crushing buprenorphine provide examples of the doublespeak that only confuses people.  My own recent discussion with another Suboxone prescriber went like this: I dont want patients to crush or chew the tablet because that will make it get absorbed too quickly.  In ct,  I usually recommend the film, because it dissolves much more quickly than the tablet.  Say what?  Do we want it to dissolve more quickly or not?  The truth is that it really does not matter.  The dissolving of buprenorphine&8212; or the film&8211; is the LONG part of the process.

The veins under the tongue absorb the drug in Suboxone. Actually, buprenorphine passes through all of the suces in the mouth five toe shoes, eventually entering capillaries under the suce.  The veins under the tongue absorb little or no buprenorphine.

You must stop smoking cigarettes if you are on Suboxone: I have searched the literature and I have talked to folks at Reckitt Benckiser, and I can find no evidence to back up this claim.  Scientifically FFXIV GIL, I cannot think of a reason that cigarette smoking would affect the absorption of buprenorphine, except perhaps to increase production of saliva, diluting the buprenorphine in solution and reducing diffusion into tissues.  I doubt this would have any significant effect on the bio-availability of buprenorphine, and my clinical experiences backs that up.  Patients in my practice who smoke have had normal responses to buprenorphine or Suboxone.

You cant take pain pills if you are on Suboxone: Actually you can, but they will only reduce pain if the dose is sufficient.   I often use this approach to treat people on buprenorphine who undergo surgery.  But problems ARE caused if a person does things in the opposite order.  In that caseif someone taking opioid agonists then takes buprenorphine&8211; there is risk that the person will develope precipitated withdrawal, depending on the amount of opioid agonist that was being used.

The longer you are on Suboxone, the harder it is to stop: I have read no studies supporting this oft-read comment, and I can think of NO reason that it would be true.  The tolerance to buprenorphine is set by the ceiling effect of the drug, and once tolerance develops, typically by several weeks on the medication,Vibram Five Fingers Shoes Sale. longer periods of time do not push tolerance higher.

The film formulation is safer than the tablet. Says who? If we are worrying about kids getting their hands on Suboxone, yesthe little orange tablets look like candy to a toddler.  But little red strips of flavored material appear appetizing as well. ALL medications should be kept away from children.  If the safety concerns are directed toward patientsfor example one doctor told me he prescribes the film because it cannot be crushedremember that crushing Suboxone is not a problem.  I SUSPECT (only my opinion) that the change in formulation was a marketing ploy aimed toward preventing acceptance of gsuboxone gets you higheneric buprenorphine tablets.  Reckitt Benckiser apparently convinced the state of Wisconsin to cover the film exclusively, rather than allow addicts the choice of taking generic buprenorphinea medication that works exactly the same as Suboxone, at about half the cost.

I think you get the idea.  Whether thinking about Suboxone or another medication, I urge readers to always ask the question, says who?  There are MANY experts out there on the internetand some exhibit more restraint in their comments than others.  Ask yourself, what is the mechanism for what is being described?  And if it doesnt seem to make sense, consider that just perhaps, youre the right one.

Very good read. Three questions: 1)Since addictive reponses may relate to rapidity of onset (regardless of ceiling effect issue), have you not had more problems with iv Subutex than with oral Suboxone? 2)Have you experience with patients who have headaches or other adverse responses to Suboxone, presumably due to minor amounts of naloxone or to different excipients, etc? 3) What&8217;s your take on Vivitrol and switching from Suboxone to Vivitrol?

chevy vansBig Cruze numbers boost General Motors sales 18% in August; Chrysler jumps 31% on Jeep boom; Ford up 11%; Honda, Toyota continue to struggle,CLEVELAND, Ohio — As dealer lots emptied of the car, General Motors sold 21,807 Chevrolet Cruze models in August, the fifth straight month above 20,000 units for the Lordstown-built compact car.

Our balanced portfolio of trucks and fuel-efficient vehicles like the Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain are helping GM continue to gain market share, which has now increased in seven of the past eight months, sales chief Don Johnson said in a written statement.

Overall, GMs sales were up 18 percent with big gains coming from trucks, crossovers, large sport utility vehicles and a bit from cars. While the Cruze sold well, it GMs No. 1 car for the third consecutive month, the Malibu mid-sized sedan slipped a bit in August.

The Cruze maintained its spot as the No. 1 compact car in the country with the usual leaders, Toyota and Honda, posting miserable numbers. Both of the Japanese automakers have been struggling to get vehicles into this country following natural disasters this spring.

Sales of the Aveo subcompact fell sharply as GM stopped producing it in vor of its replacement, the Chevrolet Sonic. Chevy sold 280 Sonics in the month as a handful of dealerships received that car.

Though well above the 20,000 mark, a level not often seen by the Chevrolet Cobalt that preceded the Cruze, sales of the compact were down from the nearly 25,000 vehicles sold in June and July.

Inventories of the car were unusually low going into August as GM was unable to build up extra supplies of the car before its two-week shutdown in July. GM has added several Saturday shifts at Lordstown to rebuild Cruze inventories.

GM said the Chevrolet brand overall has about a two-month supply available on lots around the country — a level the company typically tries to keep. Cruze inventories started August at under a 30-day supply.

Going into September, GM says it has a 33-day supply of Cruze models on lots, a figure it still wants to build higher to maintain sales growth. Lordstown built nearly 29,000 vehicles last month, a record for the Cruze, and Johnson said he expects to continue producing extra vehicles for quite some time.

We need to rebuild that inventory to maintain our momentum on Cruze, Johnson said during a conference call with reporters and analysts Thursday. Lordstown is set to work two overtime Saturdays this month, and Johnson said more extra days are likely later this year as GM tries to fill lots.

Fords sales numbers provided mixed news for Northeast Ohio. On the positive side, trucks equipped with Brook Park-built V-6 engines continued to outperform V-8 trucks. Fords Cleveland Engine Plant No. 1 had to cancel downtime and add overtime in recent months to feed the engine demand.

The 3.5-liter EcoBoost truck engine was in 41 percent of F-150 pickups sold, it the most popular engine option in the vehicle. The 3.7-liter V-6 was in 16 percent of the popular trucks. Both engines come out of Brook Park.

On the down side, sales the Avon Lake-built E-Series vans were off 11 percent. Commercial vans had been performing well until August.

Fords Focus compact car continued to struggle in August. The redesigned vehicle has won praise from reviewers, but production problems for some suppliers have kept the cars production numbers low. Last month, Ford sold 14,093 Focus models, a 9 percent drop from a year ago.

At Chrysler, booming Jeep sales drove a 31 percent increase for the automaker.

Jeep was up 58 percent as all of its vehicles except the discontinued Commander post big double-digit gains. The Patriot small SUV was the laggard of the group barefoot running shoes, climbing only 23 percent. The Compass small Jeep put those numbers to shame with a 130 percent explosion.

Chryslers smallest growth came from the Ram truck brand. The Ram truck was up 12 percent, but the smaller Dakota truck and the Sprinter commercial van both fell.

At Nissan, the only major Japanese automaker to build its sales figures following natural disasters this spring, sales were up 19 percent. Last month Polo shirts for men, Nissan ran commercials that poked fun at Toyota and Honda for not being able to get vehicles in stock.

Sales of the popular Altima sedan climbed 25 percent to just over 23,000 vehicles. The companys Sentra, an aging compact that competes with the Cruze, fell slightly.

Nissans jabs at its competitors appear to have been well placed. Toyotas sales fell 13 percent while Honda was down 24 percent.

Toyotas market-leading Camry sedan posted a solid recovery during the month with sales down less than 2 percent. The car had been posting double-digit losses earlier this year. Toyota makes most of the Camry models it sells in the United States in plants in Kentucky and Indiana, and those cilities have recovered more quickly than its plants in Japan.

Corolla sales, on the other hand, depend heavily on Japanese production. Sales of that car were down 19 percent. Toyota only has enough capacity in North America to make about 12,000 Corolla models per month, depending on Japan for the others. That should change by the end of the year as the companys new plant in Mississippi opens.

Despite its huge sales decline, the Corolla still edged out the Cruze as the No. 1 compact car in the country in year-to-date sales. Thanks mainly to strong sales before the disasters hit, Toyota has sold 170,744 Corolla models this year. Chevrolet has sold 169,427 Cruze models.

Honda Civic sales fell nearly in half last month to 12,083 from 22,803 a year ago. Honda was in the middle of launching the redesigned 2012 Civic when earthquakes and a tsunami ravaged Japan. Though most of the Civics production takes place in Indiana and Canada, a lack of parts from Japan hammered production.

American Honda sales leader John Mendel said the worst appears to be over.

The production plan for moschevy vanst of our models returned to 100 percent by late August at all of our North American ctories, Mendel said in a written statement.

Hyundai sales, combined with its Kia subsidiary, grew 16 percent, thanks mainly to torrid sales growth for the Kia Optima mid-sized sedan.

Hyundais Elantra compact car, another direct competitor of the Cruze, was down by fewer than 150 vehicles. As with Chevrolet, Hyundai hasnt been able to drive production up enough to match demand.

John Krafcik, Hyundais North American chief executive, said the Elantra and subcompact Accent both have less than 10 days of supply in the market.Dealers have said that most of the cars are sold before ever hitting lots.

Yep, gotta buy quality over where the company whos name is on the car is headquartered. Foreign car companies employ a lot of people in the U.S. for engineering and production too!

Robert,

GM may be selling Cruzes, but are they any profit on them??? Back when I worked at one of the Big 3 and then for one of their Tier 1 suppliers, the motto used to be Small Cars, Small Profits… most cars regardless of type require roughly the same amount of labor to manucture, material costs are neglible yet Trucks/SUVs sell for almost double a small car… that is why the Big 3 ignored small cars and went after Trucks/SUVs…

Crane,

GM is money on the Cruze because its a lot more expensive than the Cobalt it replaced and because its production costs are lower.

Most of the third shift at Lordstown is Tier 2 workers, people about half of the typical United Auto Workers wage. That, coupled with some massive productivity improvements that took place at Lordstown in 2009 (moving body assembly to the metal shop and eliminating the use of trucks to move parts from one side of the complex to the other), makes the Cruze cheaper to build than the Cobalt.

Add to that that the Cruze costs has a higher sticker price (roughly $2,000 higher than the Cobalt) and is selling without major incentives (the Cobalt had about $5 wow power leveling,000 in cash-back offers toward the end), and you find profits.

All that said, big trucks and SUVs carry much tter profit margins than small cars. The SUV boom was like printing money for automakers for years. They took truck frames that theyd developed for commercial vehicles, spent a little bit of development cash to add more seats and a roof, and customers were willing to pay $35,000. The Cruze will never be profitable enough to replace that easy income.

Robert Schoenberger

rschoenb@plaind.com

Robert Discount Juicy Couture,

Add to that the ct that the demographics for small cars has changed. It used to be that people looking at small cars did so for economic reasons. They wanted a small reliable car at an economical price. Now because of higher gas prices, those who used to purchase larger cars are looking into small cars. They want a car that gets good gas mileage but also want many of the luxury features they had in the larger vehicles. They are willing to pay extra for these options. This results in higher profits per vehicle as well.

jjp,

Youve just described the economic model for the European car market. Because of narrow streets, higher taxes and very expensive fuel, theres not much of a market for trucks and SUVs over there. Most people want small cars, but they have enough income to buy really nice small cars.

Subcompacts from Renault and Citroen have leather seats, satellite navigation and every other bell and whistle you could imagine. All of those extras add up, generating profits on cars that would sell at break even or a loss in their base forms.

Robert Schoenberger

rschoenb@plaind.com

Robert, maybe this is a dumb question, but Im serious. If the production costs for the Cruze are lower than for the Cobalt, why is the Cruze a lot more expensive? Is it simply a matter of supply and demand?

No, The Cruze is a much more sophisticated car, the R&D that went into building it was much more then a Cobalt. It might be less to produce on , but the over all cost in engineering 5 finger shoes, advertizing/marketing and the ct the Cruze is a World car, not just exclusive to America.

As Robert said, it might be cheaper to build on a labor cost perspective, but the car has Bluetooth, USB and many electronics that the Cobalt didnt have. It has a better suspension, turbo engine, bigger wheels……The over all cost is higher, there for resulting in a higher priced car. Labor cost (cost to build) and over all cost is different, at least in every business I have been in.

You can build something for $200 bucks and another for $2,000 bucks, the cost of the materials is what is key. But if the $200 labor cost product materials cost is $3,500 and the $2,000 product materiel cost is $1,000, then the cost to build the $200 labor cost product is lower, but the overall cost is higher because the materials……Same with the Cruze…………Long winded I know………sorry.

Robert that is also exactly why Ford never brought over the Mk 2 Focus to North America. The Focus was marketed in Europe as a basic executive-class car, and not a price leader as it was in the US/Canada and the price point theyd need for it would have been very close to the Fusion. Now that the US is starting to embrace more expensive smaller cars, theyve been able to sell the new Mk 3 model on both sides of the Atlantic.

I am anxious to see the new high performance Focus RS when it arrives here next year. Sadly, though, I will need a second car here probably before that and the Focus lack of a manual transmission on the upmarket car will chase me into a Golf TDI or GTI.

I think America embraced small cars decades ago, the Civic and Corolla have consistently sold over 200K for years. The D2.5 were just never known for their small reliable fuel efficient cars like the J-4 were (Honda, Nissan, Toyota and Mazda) so the D2.5 used them with brand shifting/badge shifting i.e. Chevy LUV, Vibe, Metro, Prism, Ford Spirit and so on………..The ultimate situation for President Obama is for gas to be $4.00 ++ and America shifts from building SUVs and pick ups to Focus, Cruze and …….What does Chrysler make in the compact/Sub compact class????……..thats Right, NOTHING! Unless you count the FIAT 500……….

Then wth do you call the supposed patriots above??

Other than Tea because he sells jap crap for a living…

Oh you did it now Teem. These so called patriots are going to get all upset at your commentary here. Just watch.

mmo listThe Guild Counsel: Pre-launch pitlls

Theres nothing more enticing than that new car smell of a soon-to-be-released MMO. And its no surprise that many players make the decision to either bring their guilds over or build a new one from the ground up. Its exciting, but forming a pre-launch guild comes with plenty of potential hazards, and all too often, those months before the game goes live are the best and happiest months of a guilds life.

mmo listThe Guild Counsel: Pre-launch pitlls,In this weeksGuild Counsel, lets look at some dos and donts when it comes to building a pre-launch guild… and hopefully keep the good times rolling long past launch day.

I love this game! Invite me!

One of the biggest dangers in creating a pre-launch guild is not screening applicants properly. The most important thing when managing a guild is that you make sure that everyone in your guild matches your philosophy WOW Gold, schedule, and playstyle. But its nearly impossible to do that without a live game. What tends to happen is that people come together based on mutual enthusiasm for the game — a n club, so to speak. Enthusiasm, however, is not nearly enough to effectively screen applicants. Once the game launches, players begin to branch off and do their own things, causing drama and leading to a fracture of the guild.

If you want a community of ns, start up a site, but dont make any promises of inviting until youre confident you can pinpoint the best matches for your guild when the game goes live.

Recruiting: What to say, what to say

There is an unbelievable number of guilds that put up recruitment posts before a game even launches. Theres nothing wrong with getting a jumpstart on things, and in many cases, guilds are coming to a new game already having an established presence in their previous games of choice. But its hard to form a recruitment post around a pre-launch game because there are too many variables that wont be known until after launch. Its better to keep your post brief and list only whats certain, such as playtimes, time zones, and whether you are casual or more hardcore. Feel free to add a history of other games youve played as a guild, but make sure not to recruit based just on that.

For established guilds, the time before a game launches is a good time to look over your charter, rules, and guild policies. Its probably too early to finalize things, but there might be areas that need tweaking based on the new game youre waiting to play.

Watch your numbers

Guild leaders always have an eye on their rosters. Guilds that grow too large risk lling under the weight of too many personalities, playstyles, and game goals. Guilds that are too small might end up frustrated at not being able to accomplish what they want to in game. But its impossible to have an accurate feel fmmo listor your roster numbers during the pre-launch wait. You have no way of knowing whether that rabid n will lose interest in the game before it even begins. At the same time, logo design. dont accept too many potential members because the content might not be that friendly to multi-group parties. Also, your best chance of finding good members is during the first few months of a game, when everyones just starting out and the pool of candidates is pretty full. Its often best to err on the side of caution and go with a roster thats a bit low, rather than too high.

What are some things you can do during the wait?

Share information. Everyones a n, and gamers have all that offline time to spend digging for game information. This is where a forum is actually important, as it becomes the clearinghouse for news tidbits and details on things like pre-ordering, getting into beta, server choices, etc. Pooling your efforts helps everyone in the guild stay informed, and it helps keep people interested in the game during the wait for launch day.

Twenty-five Rangers and no one to heal

Youll have to address this at some point if your game has specific classes or roles. Who will be your tank? Whos going to heal? Who is the stealthy DPSer? Who prefers to sit back and range attack? Who is your jack-of-all-trades utility class? If everyones a Jedi, will that hurt you when youre trying to group up or try your hand at endgame? Its worth having these conversations now, before everyone rolls a toon, rather than later on when someone has to reroll and start over.

Play something

If you have a pretty solid core of friends, keep the wheels greased by hanging out in another game to pass the time. It could be a choice from the growing field of free-to-play MMOs. It could be a MOBA (and be sure to check outNot So Massively for coverage and tips on a wide variety of games). Whatever you choose, be sure that everyone knows youre just there for the short term, and have fun with it. Even though the game and its mechanics might be vastly different from your planned home,Juicy Couture Handbags. youll get some valuable practice working together and learning each others playstyles and approaches.

The peaks and valleys

Ive mentioned this before, but a large part of guild management Vibram Shoes, even during the pre-launch wait, is managing expectations. In ct, its probably even more important with pre-launch guilds because you have to manage the high hopes and dreams that players bring with them as the game launches. Whether youre a progression guild or not, keep in mind that those first few weeks will bring a mix of excitement and disappointment, as reality sets in and people decide whether or not to stick with the game for the long haul. Expect attrition, dont let the disappointed players jar you from your plans, and focus on keeping those peaks and valleys leveled out.

Do you have a guild problem that you just cant seem to resolve? Have a guild issue that youd like to discuss? Every week,Karen Bryan takes on reader questions about guild management right here inThe Guild Counsel column. Shell offer advice, give practical tips, and even provide a shoulder to lean on for those who are taking up the challenging task of running a guild.

@nimzy

Sorry if this comes off as harsh, but if you are too lazy to figure that out on your own then you probably should not be running a guild. If you tinker with it for a few minutes you should get it. Being organized and a willingness to over come obstacles are important to being an effective leader. Reply

@nimzy and yet extremely accurate. Too many guilds run by people who cannot figure out things – how can we expect them to figure out the extremely complex task of running a guild?

and no, not harsh at all.Reply

Whats the best way to recruit in the first few days of live to avoid the infinite circle of I wont join your guild because it has too few players. Everyone seems to get big numbers in the first few days and then use them as a base for further recruiting.

-Thank you.Reply

@BigAndShiny Id have to imagine the best thing you can do is make decisions about your guild before the game even launches.

My experience is that a lot of the biggest guilds started off in one game and expanded to others because of member interest. So theyre already recruiting before the game is even really live.

So Id probably throw some small site together (hell, even some basic thing on wordpress.com at that stage) and link to it when appropriate. Go to forums, etc.

Just my opinion.Reply

Im always very cautious of joining a guild pre-launch or in the first few weeks of an MMOs debut. It just seems that the last few MMOs ive played AoC WaR FFXIV and Rift there is so much hype, then the burn out comes soon after. Ive down down with the ship too many times.

I lke to get a feeling of the games community then join a guild 2-3 months in. I might not be setting any server firsts or have the best gear for what ever level I may be at, but at least i know I have a somewhat stable base or gamers to play with. Reply

@(Unverified)

wtf why do people keep lumping Rift with those ilures. They sold 1.5 million copies and have 60 servers.

Never join a guild pre launch unless they have a pretty pro history. Best guild drama I ever saw in any MMO was people who joined Imitatio Dei a guild from Guild Wars that went to Aion and the new people caused massive drama and the break up was hilarious.Reply

@Ren54 1.5 million? Sure thing mate. I have this bridge in….meh you know what its just wasted on you.Reply

@Ren54 Trion does some nice work that sets them apart from many companies, cheap polo shirts. but lets not forget that you can put all kinds of lipstick on the pig, but at the end of the day its still a pig. Reply

I started my old guild back up from Pre NGE SWG. I reached out to old members and we have a solid 20. Once the game starts up we will build from there based on grouping and other efforts. This we can gain quality with quantity.

I think you nailed it with managing expectations. And I hear the WoW comparison used when expectations are not met. Reply

Fully plan on accepting an invite Ill eventually get tanking/healing something like a boss in SWTOR or accepting an invite from some good natured chaps who are social/outgoing and I have a ball with in GW2 during a series of DEs. Reply

This reminds me of Xsyon. I was like the 5th or 6th recruit of Hopi tribe contributing quite a lot on the guild site, forum and other ancillary services. That went on for 6 months or so, because it seemed to go live from month to month. At some point I had to quit and also left the tribe.

It was a great time with the Hopi tribe because we were like-minded and the hype about the game nurished enthusiasm… but in the end Ive never played with the game. But I somehow enjoyed the pointless play nboy game…Reply

I want to add that there were no bad feelings about Xsyon or the Hopi tribe. Sometimes, people quit because of RL reasons, and when guild mates spread out or do those evil things mentioned in the article… they dont necessarily want to be mean.

Consider that surrogate remote interpersonal relations greatly suffer from the communication bottleneck. Even very nice people can sometimes unknowingly just want to have fun, resulting in those disastreous situations…Reply

@pid I LOVED the Hopi site, my wife and I applied there not long after it kind of had an exodus sadly :( Reply

Did the pre-guild release thing with EQ2… it ended horribly. Talking with people on forums is one thing, learning they are selfish jerks when it comes to gameplay and most aspects of the game and are nothing like they pretended to be is another.

From now on I only do join a guild thats in the game and has an actual reputation for being good people.Reply

I could never join a guild pre launch need to play with few of them before I join and know they mature enough. Only thing I know for sure is that avoid every guild that been spamming the forums like crazy trying to recruit before launch.Reply

Guild Wars 2 Crafting Demoed at Gamescom/switching mm

And the Guild War 2 flood of information keeps coming out of Gamescom.  Today GWcom.de released an a video demoing the crafting system found in GW2 and providing some more information about how it works.

Guild Wars 2 Crafting Demoed at Gamescom/switching mm,To start off there will be 8 total professions players can choose from with 2 professions being active at any one time. The twist is that players will be able to switch from one profession to another without losing their progress (level) in that profession polo ralph lauren,Juicy cuture laptop case. which basically means players will be able to master all 8 professions if they want to.

Now I&8217;m going to assume there will be some restriction or cost to switching your profession otherwise limiting players to 2 active professions makes no sense.

Inhref= Wars 2, there are two basic crafting mechanism, Discovery and Crafting. Discovery is the recipe system where players experiment with various materials to see what types of recipes can be created. Then once you have some recipes, you&8217;re able to start crafting items. Guild Wars 2 takes the XP approach with crafting, so the more items you craft the more XP you get and eventually level in your profession.

Recipes also have level ranges, however it was not fully explained how it works in the video.  From what I can gather, by using the Discovery Recipe system, players can discover higher level recipes then their current crafting level, cheapest wow gold. but whether or not you&8217;ll be able to use those recipes at the lower level has yet to be answered.

Check out the full GW2 crafting demo below. Only the first 2 mins 30 sec have any commentary, the other 20 mins is just crafting.

August 21, 2011 at 3:32 pmDiscovery type brings a Minecraft-esque feel to the game, and will reward those that get the game on release with the chance to craft undiscovered sets (but I expect a mass of wiki crafting articles to pop up soon enough)

For the profession change ability I&8217;ve heard it&8217;s available at the in-game cash shop (which usually only sells cosmetic effects and extra character slots so as to not force people who already bought the game to pay more for microtransactions or be left behind &8211; this is their stated philosophy) polo ralph lauren outlet, however I&8217;m 99% sure you&8217;ll be able to change professions for free just like you can get transmutation stones for free &8211; it just costs a lot of karma.

pokemon mmoGaia Interactive opens a new genre with Monster Galaxy mobile

Game makerGaia Interactive has a big following on the web and on Facebook among young folks who are ns of Japanese comics. Now it&8217;s shooting for the triumvirate business strategy by launching a mobile version of its highly successful Monster Galaxy game, dubbed &8220;Monster G&8221; on the iPhone.

pokemon mmoGaia Interactive opens a new genre with Monster Galaxy mobile,The iPhone version of the Pokemon-style game launches today.

The Facebook version of Monster Galaxy has more than 10 million monthly active users. Altogether, between Facebook and the web, Gaia has more than 20 million users.

The move to mobile reflects the trends of the time. Web-based game companies have been adapting their games to the wildly popular Facebook social network. And now that smartphones are being activated at a rate of more than a million units a day, the game companies are also moving their titles onto mobile platforms such as the iPhone and Android.

It&8217;s no surprise, then, that Gaia has a lot of competition, including Electronic Arts, Disney, Pocket Gems, TinyCo,Vibram Five Fingers Outlet. Zynga, Storm8, to name just a few.

But Gaia has a couple of advantages over other mobile game companies, said Mike Sego, chief executive of Gaia Interactive, in an interview. Gaia can use its Facebook and web games to promote the mobile version. On top of that, Gaia believes it has a huge market opportunity in the untapped mobile genre of Pokemon-style monster-fighting games. Since Nintendo won&8217;t release Pokemon on anything but Nintendo hardware, there is an under-served market for such games on smartphones.

With the move to Facebook and now mobile, Gaia Online has a chpokemon mmoance for a second life. The company launched its social gaming community on the web nine years ago, tapping into the artistic side of young ns just as Japanese comic books became popular on the worldwide stage. As it evolved, Gaia Online expanded from its chat-oriented virtual world to afull-blown massively multiplayer online game. But that title didn&8217;t re so well as users left for Facebook.

Mike Sego replaced longtime CEO Craig Sherman about a year ago. Sego, the creator of popular Facebook app (fluff)Friends, reevaluated the strategy and decided the MMO wasn&8217;t working, resulting in thelayoff of dozens of staffers last November. He theninvested heavily in a Facebook app that emphasized collecting and battling with monsters. That title was the hit the company  needed to start growing again, and it enabled the new foray into mobile.

Right now is a good time for the expansion, since the Monster Galaxy title is at about half its peak on Facebook. Gaia has woven the intricate storylines (pictured right) and graphics style of its Monster Galaxy game into the mobile title.

The game makes money through the sale of virtual currency polo ralph lauren outlet, or Moga Cash (pictured at bottom), which can be used to buy a variety of upgrades in the game.

Gaia currently has about 80 employees. Gaia has raised $31 million to date from Benchmark Capital, Redpoint Ventures, DAG Ventures, and Institutional Venture Partners.

cheap new vaBritain Tries for a Second Industrial Revolution

Cameron wants to boost manucturing from 10 percent of British P, but weak export markets, complex regulation, and the supplier network are impediments

cheap new vaBritain Tries for a Second Industrial Revolution,Mark Stein, manager of Vauxhall van plant in Luton,Polo Shirts. 29miles north of London, starts presentations with an aerial photo of the site in 1965. It shows a vast complex of buildings that employed more than 35,000 workers. He points to a small red circle in the picture. That’s where GM’s current ctory is. It employs 1,500.

Making stuff has dwindled from nearly 40percent of Britain’s gross domestic product in the late 1950s to not much more than 10percent now. What remains survives for a reason. GM’s Luton ctory this year will produce 70,000 Vauxhall Vivaro vans and other vehicles, more than 60percent for export. Manucturing productivity grew 4.4percent in the first quarter.

Prime Minister David Cameron has latched on to manucturing as a cure for Britain’s economic hangover and its 7.9 percent jobless rate. If you’re trying to make the economy grow long term on a sustainable basis, manucturing is where we need to be,’’ says Vince Cable, U.K. Business Secretary. One of the main growth sectors of the economy in recent years has been banking. For reasons that are blindingly obvious, that’s not going to be so important in future.’’

Starting a new Industrial Revolution will be hard. Government efforts to cut red tape produce plenty of their own. If you were to write on a board how many agencies and support schemes there are, you would be amazed, says Bill Parfitt,FFXIV GIL. GM U.K.’s chairman.

Economists and some manucturing executives also say that boosting manucturing may be unwise. British manucturing as a share of P is smaller than Germany’s 20percent, yet it is similar to the U.S. and France, which have big service sectors. Britain may have reached an equilibrium between the two sectors. I don’t think any economist believes that growth in the next five to 20 years will be driven by manucturing, says Jonathan Portes, director of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research.

British manucturing lacks Germany’s advantages. Germany has long had industrial apprenticeships for young adults: Cable is trying to launch an apprenticeship program in Britain as well. In Germany, robust midsize companies supply big companies and export on their own. In contrast, consider the state of GM’s supply chain in Britain. Only 10percent of the value of parts used at its main U.K. plant at Ellesmere Port are made domestically. The pound’s 25percent drop since 2007 against a basket of currencies drives up the cost of imported parts even as it makes exports cheaper.

U.K. producers do excel at goods where technology counts for more than the cost of labor, says Lee Hopley, chief economist at the Engineering Employers’ Federation. Revenue for Vitec, a high-tech maker of gear for the broadcast, military, and photographic markets Vibram Five Fingers Shoes Sale, grew in the first half to $cheap new vans282million from $250 million. We do make some products in China,’’ says Chief Executive Officer Stephen Bird. But my intention is that we will continue to manucture in both the U.K. and Italy because we have great engineers. A secret to survival is not competing with cheap Chinese goods cheap polo ralph lauren shirts, says Mark Henderson, CEO of MSE UK, which makes blood centrifuges.

Yet after a promising post-recession start, U.K. manucturing shrank 0.5percent in the quarter ended in June. The trade gap in June for goods was £8.9billion ($14.5billion). Business Secretary Cable says the weaker pound will help the U.K. gain share even in markets where growth is slow, five toe shoes. and commercial diplomacy will sell more goods to developing countries. The problem always has been that our export markets, particularly the euro zone and the U.S., are cing challenges of their own, says Jonathan Loynes, chief European economist at Capital Economics in London. The idea that we were going to get a helpfully timed export boom was always a bit optimistic.

The bottom line: Camerons plan to boost manucturing must grapple with weak export markets and an undernourished supplier network.
